Smackdown 8/24/12: A friendly staredown ends in confusion

29 Aug

The feud between Kaitlyn and Layla seems to be adding on a little as Kaitlyn takes commentary for Layla’s match against Alicia Fox. To my surprise, I feel like Fox did the better job in this match and this was probably one of her best matches to date. Layla to me has been slacking over the last two or three weeks by becoming sloppy. Pretty much Layla’s only offense was kicks which weren’t great. Alicia Fox seemed to add to her moveset a little with a one-legged boston crab onto Layla, which hasn’t been applied from Divas in a long time, so that was nice to see. Fox also did her typical moveset of dropkicks and rollups. Plus on a non-wrestling related note, Fox’s hair looks so much better that way, and same with her ring gear, definately needs to stay. Putting Kaitlyn on commentary for this match was a nice touch from WWE because it can still further their storyline in some way without pushing it to far and getting fans uninterested. After Layla picks up the victory, the #1 contender steps foot into the ring, they have a short staredown before hugging. Eve Torres’ music then hits as she makes her way down the ramp. Eve suspiciously holds both of the ladies hands up in the middle of the ring, leaving them bewildered. What could Eve be up to? Would you like Eve to be added in the match for the championship? Comment below and tell me your thoughts!

Miss Assistant Eve Torres was also in a backstage segment with the General Manager Booker T and Teddy Long. Long gives Booker an idea which he likes until Eve tells him to check the win/loss records to decided who will wrestle for the championship. Booker T likes her idea now and disregarded what Teddy Long said.

Also on Smackdown, Rosa Mendes’ return to managing her tag team of Epico and Primo. After weeks of being absent, Mendes is finally back to her duties at ringside (she returned on Raw in the battle royal). Mendes comes out and does her typical salsa routine that the fans missed so much. Unfortunately, Rosa’s team was unable to pick up the victory against the Tag Team Champions, R-Truth and Kofi Kingston but they were able to get some revenge backstage later in the show with a tag team brawl backstage. This is what I like to see… MORE TAG TEAMS!!

And last but not least, Aksana is also on this week. She makes her way out infront of the audience with the new U.S. Champion, Antonio Cesaro. Former champion, Santino Marella (and his cobra) and Cesaro get into a brawl while Aksana stands on the stage clapping for her man who is winning the battle. It looks as if Aksana is going to be put into a storyline with Santino’s cobra, as well as a fulltime storyline as the champions girlfriend. One of these storylines are normal, and the other one is…well…. interesting, to say the least.

Summerslam 2012

22 Aug

Before this highly anticipated PPV gets started, WWE kicked off with a hot championship match which got everyone on their feet. Hardly do we ssee the title switch hands on the pre-show but this match seemed different. Antonio Cesaro was able to defeated Santino with help from a distraction which was made by his girlfriend Aksana, to become the new United States Champion. After the match, Cesaro and Aksana touted about their victory and shared a long kiss to seal their happiness and new milestone.

The hottest PPV of them all has been hyped for weeks now, and it’s officially time to get the party started! Now Divas match was sadly advertised, and we weren’t treated to a last minute match… BUT we were lucky enough to see all the Divas… well except one, dance. Yup.

Like usual, the Divas are used for eye candy when celebrities perform, etc. on their shows. This one was no different as Kevin Rudolf sings Summerslam’s official theme song live for the crowd to get up and get loose. Funny enough, Rudolf doesn’t even have his guitar plugged in but he is still trying to get down… weirdness. The Divas enter the arena… but it looks as if one is missing, and that is Beth Phoenix.

Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, The Divas Champion Layla, The Funkadactyls, Kelly Kelly, Eve, Aksana, Natalya, Kaitlyn and Tamina all stand in a perfect line to get down and lip sync to the artists’ song. Why wasn’t Beth able to join this exciting adventure? Was she not dancing material?… or a better question: Was she even invited?…Well, Natalya, Kaitlyn, and Tamina try their best to break out some dance moves, while Eve, Layla and Funkadatyls are naturals at groovin’. Mendes is far to the left doing her normal salsa routine while adding some hand gestures, and Miss Foxy was hardly shown. WWE’s camera pans around to multiple people in the crowd that are letting their inner dancer fly out, which only made this segment better.

Also, Eve Torres was shown backstage with Teddy Long for a few split seconds before the camera moved over to CM Punk who walked into the RAW General Manager AJ Lee’s office. AJ also made an appearance when the triple threat match between John Cena, CM Punk and Big Show ended with both Cena and Punk picking up the win. She immediately restarted the match in hopes of her former lover Punk losing his belt. She didn’t find any luck as the champion remained victorious.

WWE’s newest social networking usage: TOUT

19 Jul

WWE has been known for their use in social networking, especially the recently popular “Twitter”, but this time, their most recent usage is known other than TOUT. So what exactly is this website? TOTU allows a users to record a 15-second video from their device, and then post it to their Facebook or Twitter account.

WWE has made almost all of their Superstars and Divas TOUT accounts, and many of them have aleady used their accounts (Zack Ryder, Alicia Fox, Derrick Bateman, etc.) while many others haven’t.

Below are the following links to the WWE Divas TOUT accounts: (Vickie) (Kharma) (Aksana) / (Alicia Fox) / (Tamina Snuka ) / (Rosa Mendes) / (Kelly Kelly) / (Naomi) / (Cameron) / (Beth Phoenix) / (Natalya) / (Kaitlyn) / (AJ Lee) / (Layla) / (Eve Torres)

Superstars 7/12/12: Fox and Kaitlyn take down the Pin-Up Strong

13 Jul

Alicia Fox and Kaitlyn are set to take on the Pin-Up Strong leaders, Natalya and Beth Phoenix. Alicia and Natalya start things off, Natalya applys a waistlock and takes Fox down getting a nearfall. Fox kicks Natalya and spanks her (oh gosh, thought they were gone). Natalya slaps Alicia and hits a monkey flip but Fox lands on her feat and does a headscissors before tagging in Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn dropkicks Neidhart, leading her to tag her partner, Phoenix in. Beth kicks Kaitlyn in the stomach but Kaitlyn comes back with a crossbody, she tags in Alicia who hits a dropkick to get a count. Fox tosses Natalya into Phoenix and does a baseball slide on Beth. Beth then kicks Alicia in the ribs, Alicia does the matrix and hits Beth with a kick.  Beth had enough and tags in Natalya now and Fox chokes her. Kaitlyn is now tagged in, she hits a backbreaker for a two count.

Kaitlyns leg is now hurting, which allows Natalya to take advantage over it. Natalya tags in Beth, as they double team to get a pinfall, but it wasn’t enough. Beth contunues to work on the leg of Kaitlyn as she tags her Neidhart back in. Natalya hits some moves but Kaitlyn is able to avoid the second but Kaitlyn is unable to make the tag as Natalya prevents it. Natalya tags into Beth, who locks up with Kaitlyn. Natalya knocks Alicia Fox off the apron, but she gives Natalya the thesz press. Beth throws Fox through the ropes, but Kaitlyn does a roll-up to get the victory over Phoenix.

Your winners of this bout, Alicia Fox and Kaitlyn.

LIVE Smackdown 7/3/12: The Superstars and Divas evacuate the dance floor

4 Jul

As scheduled last week on Smackdown, Aksana and her boyfriend Antonio Cesaro took on the team of the Divas Champion, Layla and The Great Khali. Cesaro and Khali are in the match first with Khali doing a series of chops, Cesaro then gets away and takes out Khali’s leg. Khali gets back up and does more chops. Aksana then tags herself and goes head to chest with The Great Khali, Khali stares at her in confusion before Layla tackles her. They have a mini-catfight before Layla spanks Aksana and throws her to the ground for a two count because Cesaro broke up the pin. Khali sends Cesaro over the top rope leaving Layla to pick up the victory for her team. After the match, Layla is dancing and tries to get Khali to join but his face reads confusion. He eventually joins in after Layla grabs his arm and twirls herself.

In the ring, AJ has an interview with Michael Cole about her actions on RAW this week. Cole goes on about how AJ wasn’t thinking, and the board made a mistake by making her the special guest referee at MITB. Cole calls her a teenager and says she’s playing a tug of war with Punk and Bryan. Cole asks if she ever thought about pursuing a real man, someone like him, as he begins to flirt with her… with a wedding ring on his finger. Daniel Bryan comes out defending AJ, and calling Cole a sexist and a bully. He sucks up to AJ and says he knows she will do an excellent job at Money in the Bank and he AJ didn’t mean for him to go through the table. CM Punk then interrupts and talks about what happened and how he’s upset. He adds that he isn’t going pretend it didn’t happen and he won’t suck up to AJ just because she’s the special referee. He says he’s going to be blunt and honest with AJ because that’s what she deserves and that she’s not in a good place mentally. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan start arguing and AJ steps between them. AJ starts to makeout with Bryan as Punk leaves the ring. AJ runs out to catch Punk and makes out with him. AJ skips up the ramp and chants “YES!”.

Throughout the night, multiple Superstars and Divas were having a party in the back. The first segment was at the beginning of the show. Alicia Fox was shown with the Usos, the camera pans over to Natalya who is bragging about her uncle, Bret Hart stating that he is the best to Yoshi Tatus. Yoshi then turns to Camacho and Hunico and says something in Japanese. The camera moves to the next set of Divas, which are Tamina, Kaitlyn and Rosa Mendes. They are shown throwing water on Hornswoggle as he sits in a mini swimming pool. Teddy says it’s okay if they make a mess because he has made Eve the maid for the night. Santino comes in and tries to light the grill but it won’t work. Kane comes in, and does his entrance but instead of the pyro, the grill gets set on fire.

After two matches, we go back to the cookout. This time Tamina and the Usos are sitting by Hornswoggle in the swimming pool. Jey is splashing water on Hornswoggle and wants Jimmy to take a picture but Hornswoggle hits Jey. Ryder shows up telling Teddy he can be the DJ and lists some artist that he listens to. This leads to Heath Slater coming in and saying he’s their entertainment. He breaks out to his “one man band” song, and rest of the people at the party throw trash at him. Zack Ryder plays Brodus Clay’s theme song and Brodus and the Funkadactyls enter the party with their dancing. The rest of the party joins in as they all start doing the ‘claws’ dance except for Kaitlyn and Jey Uso who seem to be doing their own dance.

The last party segment began with Johnny Curtis dancing on Eve, which to me was hilarious, as well as Yoshi Tatsu and Derrick Bateman dancing with Natalya. The Funkadactyls join the party yet again and start dancing with Zack Ryder, Alicia Fox, Hornswoggle, The Usos, Percy Watson, Johnny Curtis, and Ezekiel Jackson until Damien Sandow decides to unplug their radio as everyone complains. Zack Ryder confronts him and they start to fight. Zack throws him Sandow into the table and grabs the punch. Damien ducks out of the way leading the punch to land all over Eve as the crowd laughs. R-Truth starts to help wipe Eve off and Teddy tells him to stop. Eve screams and storms off.

RAW 6/25/12: Divas celebrate Summer Time with a Battle Royal

30 Jun

At the very beginning of RAW AJ is shown talking, to what seems to be a person. AJ Lee tells “Bryan” they’re going to have to drift apart. She says she loses all inhibitions when she sees Kane and just wants to get wild. and she says she would like to be soul mates with Punk but she isn’t sure what he’s thinking and says it’s best if they all go their separate ways. The camera pans away into the mirror to show AJ talking to herself. – During the first match, AJ’s music plays and she comes out skipping around the ring yet again during Kane vs Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk, causing Kane to be distracted.

With it being Summertime, WWE found a ‘perfect’ way to give all the Divas a time in the ring. What’s more fun than battle royal… and not just any battle royal, a Summertime Bikini one! (read that with sarcasm).

WWE comes back from commercial break with all the Divas (Beth Phoenix, Aksana, AJ, Maxine, Rosa Mendes, Natalya, Kaitlyn, Tamina, Alicia Fox and Layla) standing in the ring. Vickie Guerrero then comes out in a robe, gets into the ring, dances and reveals her leopard print swimsuit. Vickie is now going to participate in this match-up. All the Divas immediately go on attack after Vickie Guerrero and eventually spread into their own groups. Maxine is first eliminated, followed by this order of elimination: Aksana, Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, Kaitlyn, Tamina, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Layla, Vickie and your winner is AJ Lee. AJ celebrates by chanting “YES!”.

Vickie Guerrero, the general manager for this week, is shown backstage when Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo walk in with flowers. Dolph Ziggler walks in and says he is the rightful #1 contender to the Heavyweight Title and he deserves a match. Vickie says she’s made a #1 contender’s match. There will be a contract attached to a pole and the first man to get it faces Sheamus on SmackDown. Ricardo brings the flowers back in a vase and Dolph throws them at the wall.

Directly after that backstage segment, Big Show vs Brodus Clay w/ The Funkadactyls took place. This was basically a squash match with Show picking up the victory, after continuously attacking his leg. The Funkadactyls check on Brodus’ “injured leg” along with the trainers after Big Show leaves.

AJ is in another backstage segment, this time it’s with Kane. Kane says he’s not exactly boyfriend material and she says that’s OK. Kane says he doesn’t do relationships and his only source of pleasure is eviscerating people. Kane goes onto say that he even finds AJ mentally unstable and it’s best if they just stay away from each other.

Smackdown 4.27.12: Twin Magic takes over Smackdown; AJ slaps her Best Friend and Eve has more ideas!

29 Apr

We’ve been blessed with Diva matches all week this week and Smackdown was no different.

Nikki Bella w/ Brie Bella vs Alicia Fox is up next. At the beginning of the match Fox goes for a headlock but Nikki counters with a jawbreaker. Nikki then applied a single-winged headlock, but Alicia elbows her way out and hits a dropkick and a back elbow. Alicia avoids a clothesline but Nikki grabs her hair and slams her on the mat. This leads to the Bella Twins using Twin Magic while the referee is checking on Alicia Fox to make sure she is alright. Brie Bella hits the facebuster to pick up the victory. Nikki Bella is still your Divas Champion.

A replay of AJ Lee’s emotional breakdown against Natalya replays as we go backstage.

We seem to be getting an exclusive interview with AJ Lee about her relationship with the “YES!” man Daniel Bryan. AJ ignores Matt Strikers question and begins to walk away. He then asks her about her nervous breakdown she suffered last week on Smackdown, this time Kaitlyn interrupts and tells Striker that AJ is in a bad place and she doesn’t have to answer these questions. AJ starts to walk away and Kaitlyn stops her and reminds her that they are best friends. Kaitlyn says that this is a good thing because Daniel Bryan is a jerk, he didn’t respect AJ, he didn’t love her and he did nothing for her. This leads to AJ slapping her “best friend” Kaitlyn.

The new Executive Administrator, Eve, is backstage with John Laurinaitis. She points out all the employees walking around backstage and that it’s awkward she doesn’t know their names. She comes up with a suggestion that they should wear name tags. Teddy interrupts their conversation and ask Laurinaitis what his new position is since Eve is now the Executive Administrator. Laurinaitis tells him he’s ‘just another employee’. Eve tells Teddy Long to go get a name tag.

In another backstage segment, Aksana walks into John’s office while Teddy is cleaning it. They have a conversation over the past few weeks, and in come Eve and Laurinaitis. He informs Teddy and Aksana that he’ll be giving Antonio a match on Smackdown and if he likes it, then Antonio will be signed a contract. Eve has yet another idea, and she says that Aksana is going to be the ring announcer for the match, Eve also tells Teddy that he will have his own commentary table and tells him that he will be down there calling action. John tells Teddy not to be nervous because he’ll be telling him what to say, he hands Long a shirt and tells Torres she’s been doing a good job.
